When Venus Transits the Sun

On June 5, 2012, the planet Venus will pass directly between Earth and the sun, an event called a transit of Venus. The last transit of Venus was in 2004, but since these events happen in pairs separated by over 100 years, the one in June will be the last chance for anyone alive today to see one! Learn what transits of Venus in the 18th and 19th Centuries taught astronomers about the solar system, what they hope to learn from this transit, and how to observe it safely from Acadiana.
